Vacancy: Badge Shop Officer

The Scout Association of Malta is seeking to hire a part-time Shop Officer for the Badge Shop, located in Gzira.

The Badge Shop primarily operates online but may open in person depending on the season and for collections, typically 1–2 evenings per week (5:30 PM to 7:00 PM).

The Badge Shop plays a vital role in serving leaders, helpers, parents, and young people. For many new members and their families, it is often one of the first interactions with the Association, therefore creating a positive first impression and maintaining a professional, welcoming environment are key priorities for this role.

About the Job

  • Serve as the Badge Shop Officer.
  • Manage both physical and online store operations efficiently.
  • Prepare and pack online orders in advance and handle postal order processing.
  • Deliver an excellent customer service experience.
  • Ensure the smooth day-to-day functioning of the store.
  • Oversee inventory management and control through the Point of Sale system.
  • Safeguard cash and inventory.
  • Coordinate electronic communications, including website updates and email correspondence.
  • Monitor store opening hours and ensure timely communication with members.
  • Manage the layout, display, and organization of the main badge store.
  • Assist in the development of promotional materials for special events or campaigns.
  • Support and collaborate with the volunteer active support team for the shop.
  • Uphold and demonstrate Scouting values through conduct and behaviour.
  • Maintain a friendly and approachable demeanour.
  • Be available, when possible, to assist with badge store-related duties at IHQ outside regular opening hours, such as organising the main storage area.

What do you need to apply?

  • Familiarity with the Scout Uniform is essential.
  • Previous retail experience particularly handling cash and stock is an advantage.
  • The role requires a commitment of approximately 5 to 7 hours per week, with a pay rate of €7.75 per hour.
