Last weekend, our Chief and International Commissioner took a short trip to Backagården in Höör, Sweden to attend the European Scout Symposium. The symposium brings to the forefront the Triennium of the past, present and future, which together characterise the agenda for the Scout Regional plan from 2025 to 2028.
Vital points for this symposium include actively assessing the progress of our current plan, with a strong focus on the new Strategy for Scouting and the WOSM Planning Framework. Furthermore, the regional data and available resources will be rigorously analysed to ensure the proper utilisation of the region’s strength. Additionally, the symposium aims to implement innovative methodologies and to ascertain that the needs of our region are well-aligned with the global strategy.
As one can imagine, such an event has a substantial influence on the coming strategy. In this case, the symposium had a total of 104 international representatives, ranging from key national decision-makers to international commissioners.
During the European Symposium 2025, our representatives, Mr Anton Pisani, Malta`s chief commissioner, and Mr Edward Vella, our international commissioner met with fellow leaders across the continent to shape the future of Scouting in Europe. Through strategic discussions and informal exchanges, the representatives explored youth empowerment, sustainability, and innovation in Scouting. Beyond the sessions, the real impact came from shared ideas and new collaborations, reinforcing our commitment to creating meaningful change for young people.
In conclusion, this symposium elevates the voices of the European scouting region, to push what their members need. Eventually, the 25th European Scout Conference in Vienna will vote on what was previously discussed during the symposium. Which in turn affects the European Regional plan between 2025-2018.
