More often than not, we start our day with the sunrise and end with the sunset, but Mr. Sean Bartolo and Mr. Andre Brincat decided to flip things around for the Venture National event. The aim of the event appeared simple at first: To witness both sunset and sunrise, meaning that the ventures would have to cross Malta through the night to experience both natural wonders.
On Friday 27th 2025, over 200 of Malta`s ventures and leaders met at Dingli cliffs, enjoying the sunset, which was just the beginning of their journey. Together the ventures ventured from Gebel Ciantar, passing through Siġġiewi, Qrendi, Żurrieq, Birżebbuga, Marsaxlokk, and finally ending at Żonqor point, totalling 26km. A challenging journey, to say the least, some ventures even noted that given that they had such a distance to cover, they had to focus on keeping a steady pace. As arriving on time was imperative to reach the aim of their hike!

The Ventures walked through the countryside all together, not as multiple scout groups but as one large venture unit. Many of them found the hike challenging but worth it, especially for the memories and friendship forged throughout the night. One member pointed out how nice it was to meet younger ventures and how their insight into events opened her eyes to their perspective. All in all, it is easy to see that the ventures integrated between themselves, enjoying their journey as more than just any other hike. At the end of their hike, the ventures were given this commemorative pin badge depicting the sun, which had fueled their journey through the night.

Through Mr. Andre Brincat`s creative idea, he and Mr. Sean Bartolo set out to make a unique adventure for the ventures. With this age group, they got to challenge them with a longer hike, as well as the concept of walking all night. The communication team managed to meet the ventures during their journey, and very clearly, it was a success!
