The recent Kamp Rovers event successfully gathered 100 participants for weekend packed with activities. This marked a milestone for the local Rover section. This event was designed not only as a social gathering like the BBQ organised last summer but as a strategic programme-based camp.

“Our primary goal has always been to strengthen the Rover community.”  That simple but powerful vision, shared by Sean Bonnici the chairperson of the Rovers Events and Service team, was our main scope behind Kamp Rovers. This national activity brought together Rovers from every background to connect, collaborate, and share meaningful experiences. The rovers events and service team wanted to show the full potential of the Rover programme because it’s often “underutilised.” Deliberately building on core Rover skills within every activity to showcase what the programme is truly capable of.

Utilising the theme of Nationalities they further aimed to focus on coming together, regardless of scout group but as a community. From the very beginning the Planning team knew that this event had to be something big, well planned and engaging, which they have achieved. Through the various activities, including the day activity of Pjazza Rovers, all went along hand in hand with the theme. The team used the love and competitiveness of the annual ISCOUT, an international event, to serve as their inspiration for this activity.

Furthermore, they enjoyed a culture night where the different countries showed off their countries’ cuisine and myths, legends and traditions. This was done in the form of a cooking competition and stunts, subtly encouraging the scouts to adapt and overcome. Such activities targeted improving the participants budgeting, teamwork and creativity. To end it all off the team organised a Scouting quiz just to keep the participants on their feet.

In conclusion, the event was a great success, hitting the nail, both on the mission of bringing the community together and executing the global theme. The event didn’t just gather 100 people—it showed everyone how vast and adaptable the Rover programme really is. It was a massive success that is definitely going to fire up participation and appreciation for the Rover section for the rest of the year! A huge well done to the Rovers events and service team— Sean Bonnici, Kaia Piccinino, Chloe Muscat, Fran Scicluna, and Martina Zammit — for pulling off such a fantastic event! A further thank you goes out to the helpers and volunteers that devoted their time to keep the camp up and running! And last but not least the rovers who attended, without which this would not have been possible! We look forward to seeing you all at the next Rover event!
